The "How To" Guide to Building Growth Mindsets
Event Information
About this event
Research shows that parents can have a powerful impact on our children's mindsets. The language we use and the actions we take can both influence and inspire our children's behavior and school success.
Teaching our children to see mistakes as learning opportunities, to understand the value of practice and to try different strategies when they are frustrated are all strategies that will cultivate growth mindsets.
In our May Learning from a Distance webinar, we will host New York Times Best Selling Education Author, Mary Cay Ricci, national speaker, consultant and author of Mindsets for Parents: Strategies to Encourage Growth Mindsets in Kids.
Mary Cay will discuss:
- How to build a growth mindset environment at home
- Strategies for building resilience and perseverance in our children
- Ways to respond effectively to mistakes and frustration
As parents, we can sometimes find ourselves overly concerned about grades, advancements on sports teams, or our children's growing 'resume'. We can put emphasis on the final destination and sacrifice teaching the need for resilience on the path to getting there.
Mary Cay will help us build a growth mindset culture at home by providing tools to help respond to our children's frustration, model optimism, and keep our child’s self-esteem strong.
