The Holocaust Through the Documentary Lens - Pt. 2: "FAMILY TREASURES LOST AND FOUND" Screening and Discussion

We are offering a series of documentaries that explore and reflect various aspects of the Holocaust. Each month we will meet to watch and discuss a documentary that offers a unique perspective about the Holocaust and its impact on so many individuals. While the films will not concentrate on explicit horrors and atrocities, they will tell stories of unique experiences that show the complexity of what occurred. After the screenings, there will be time for reflection and discussion. There is no “one” Holocaust story but millions of unique experiences.

This series is organized by award-winning filmmaker Aviva Slesin

Featured Documentary:

FAMILY TREASURES LOST AND FOUND Directed by Marcia Rock (2024)

What happens to family stories when those who knew what happened are gone? Family Treasures Lost & Found is not only a Holocaust story but a second-generation sleuthing adventure to uncover family secrets. Award-winning technology journalist Karen A. Frenkel is the producer and subject of the film. The film tells the story of her quest to fill gaps in her parents' and sole-surviving grandparent's paths to freedom during the Holocaust. Miss Frenkel will be present for the Q&A. Directed by Marcia Rock (75 minutes).
