In 1949 Joseph Campbell first published his seminal work “Hero with a Thousand Faces.” In it, he shares his insights that became known as the Hero’s Journey. This universal story structure is found in oral storytelling, myth, religion and mythic traditions. The pattern of creation and destruction describes the prototypical adventure of the archetype, the protagonist Hero, who leaves the comforts of home and embarks on a journey to receive and achieve great gifts which are then brought back to the group, tribe, or civilization. In this one-day introduction to psychodrama workshop, participants will learn how to apply this model to their own life-story and the stories of others. We will work in action learning about and using archetypes that exemplify the journey; both universal and personal. Archetypes that hinder us as well as the those that we use to create and encourage success will be explored. The goal of the workshop is to learn a model to utilize to warm up and begin the process of change and transformation, for anyone who is interested in exploring past, present or future growth within the self or with others. If you are a lawyer, business or church leader, or just interested in learning more about the versatility of psychodrama and the power of transformation, this introductory workshop is for you!

These ongoing sessions present sociometry, psychodrama, spontaneity-creativity theory and role theory. Participants will learn and practice techniques for use in their field of interest. Attendees have the opportunity to experience and learn about the roles of group member, auxiliary ego, protagonist and director. Sessions will offer unique instruction in the application of experiential methods to a variety of life circumstances and themes. In addition, by being involved in all the roles of psychodrama, participants will benefit from deep personal growth work. Psychodramatic methodologies of role reversal, doubling, mirroring and future projection will be demonstrated and experienced. Lunch not provided.

7 training hours can be credited toward certification by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.
