About this event
The Good Bad
Hailing from San Francisco, The Good Bad have been a part of the exploding newgrass/bluegrass scene on the west coast since 2010. The band brings a high energy take on the modern “string band” sound. Vocal harmonies and versatility are staples of their craft and they are honed to deliver a good time sound that pushes boundaries while staying rooted in traditional bluegrass. They have shared the stage with string band favorites such as The Brothers Comatose, Della Mae, The Lil’ Smokies, Split Lip Rayfield and Front Country. The Good Bad play in a manner that will keep you grinning and feeling good about life & living. In addition to performing their sure to be joyous headlining set, The Good Bad and Broken Compass will conclude the evening by joining forces and, without a doubt, will put on an all-star jam that will close out the evening in dynamic fashion.
Kyle Ledson & the Broken Compass
This performance will include an opening set by Kyle Ledson & the Broken Compass. This newly formed band is comprised of Kyle Ledson (guitar/mandolin), Django Ruckrich (guitar/mandolin) and Mei Lin Heirendt. Kyle at the age of twenty is the senior member of the band and the three young musicians play in a manner that appears truly “beyond their biological years”. All three are songwriters and stellar musicians to boot. The Good Bad and Broken Compass will conclude the evening by joining forces to create what will surely be a memorable all-star jam session.
Bring a picnic! All concert attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring their own picnic meals and refreshments. We do not sell food or beverages, other than "soft drinks", at the shows. The venue has a sizable picnic area in addition to the amphitheater.

The Kentucky Mine Amphitheater: A Hidden Musical Gem
Located just outside of the tiny hamlet known as Sierra City lies the Kentucky Mine and Museum. A county park operated by the Sierra County Historical Society and open to the public, the park features a museum, stamp mill, portal entrance to the now defunct mine, an extensive picnic area and numerous mining artifacts dating back to the days when gold mining was rampant throughout this region of the Sierra Nevada. The park also boasts an amphitheater, carved into the mountainside and surrounded by towering pines and oaks. The amphitheater seats two hundred patrons, has a performance stage and a large dance floor.
Tickets can be purchased online, or at the gate.
