The Garden at Federal Twist - A Special Lecture by Jim Golden
Overview
The Garden at Federal Twist
A Special Lecture by Jim Golden
The Watnong Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society invites local gardeners to a special lecture presentation on Saturday, November 8 at 10:00 am. This chapter meeting will be held at the Somerset County Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge.
James Golden, the owner and gardener at Federal Twist, a Garden Conservancy Open Days garden near Stockton, NJ, will talk about how he created his naturalistic garden. Federal Twist is on clay soil so wet that Golden has described it as “like liquid plastic.” The garden is Golden’s version of a meadow filled with native and nonnative plants.
Admission is free to all. Chapter dues are $10/year ($15 per household) for anyone wanting to join in the future.
Golden’s garden has been featured in many gardening magazines, Monty Don’s BBC series on American gardens, and in Golden’s own book, “The View From Federal Twist” (https://www.amazon.com/View-Federal-Twist-Thinking-Ourselves/dp/1999734572).
