What might the future of AI look like if it could dynamically learn from and be governed by social collaboration and community-based expertise? Please join the Computing Research Association, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and Microsoft Research for a panel discussion, featuring MacArthur Fellows, Mary L. Gray, Lester Mackey, and Bill Thies, to explore how leading scholars in computing and social sciences have worked with communities to develop AI systems for social impact. Panelists, in conversation with CRA’s inaugural Early Career Trustworthy AI Fellows and Mentors, will consider what AI models and tools could look like if multidisciplinary research teams coordinated taking a “Participatory Turn” towards social groups as cornerstones and sources of deep expertise in designing trustworthy intelligent systems. The panel discussion will be followed by a chance for audience members to share their questions and insights and an open reception, with informal conversation, food, and beverages, overlooking the Boston skyline and Charles River.
Attendees will need to show their IDs to enter the venue.
