Event Title:The Future is Not Set in Stone – Let’s Reimagine the Future TogetherProvider Summit 2025 – Part IIHosted by the Norfolk Mayor’s Commission on Aging and Long-Term Care & the Norfolk Mayor’s Commission for Persons with Disabilities
Event Summary:In April 2025, the Norfolk Mayor’s Commissions on Aging and Long-Term Care and for Persons with Disabilities co-hosted the first Provider Summit, bringing together providers, advocates, and community leaders for honest conversations about the barriers that stand in the way of stronger, more inclusive services. Participants identified common challenges—like funding shortages, workforce gaps, silos in communication, and limited transportation—as well as untapped community resources and opportunities for building trust.
Now, we continue the conversation with Part II of the Provider Summit: The Future is Not Set in Stone – Let’s Reimagine the Future Together. This follow-up meeting is focused on moving from dialogue to action. Together, we will:
- Revisit the themes and recommendations from the April summit
- Highlight resources and collaborations that have emerged since the first gathering
- Begin shaping actionable strategies to address systemic barriers
- Strengthen networks across providers, advocates, and community partners
