Columbia College Chicago is a nationally recognized creative institution located in the heart of downtown Chicago, dedicated to empowering students through hands-on, industry-focused learning in the arts, media, and communication. Our Event Management Practicum class, which produces Fresh Connect each year, provides students from all disciplines with real-world experience in event production, marketing, and community engagement.
The Fresh Connect is Columbia’s annual celebration of Hip-Hop culture, a vibrant gathering where students, artists, and community members come together to honor Hip-Hop’s creativity, influence, and legacy. This year’s event will feature:
- LivepPerformances from student artists, DJs, dancers, and MCs
- Workshops & panels on Hip-Hop history, the music business, and social impact
- The Parker Lee Williams Award for Hip-Hop Excellence, honoring artistry, education, and leadership in Hip-Hop
- Networking opportunities connecting students and industry professionals
All proceeds raised through tickets to this event will be put towards the Parker Lee Williams Award for Hip-Hop Excellence. This scholarship supports students who embody creativity, leadership, and a passion for the arts—values that defined P-Lee’s career and impact.
