The Frequency of Color
Join us at the Alice Austen House on August 2nd for the premiere of The Frequency of Color - a live sonic-visual performance by Sestra Kuya - a multidisciplinary project formed by Olga Panchenko and Gerry Gonzales. For the first time, the process of brush-anodizing titanium with electricity will be made audible, revealing the hidden frequencies behind color transformation.
Using a custom-built voltage-to-sound interface, each fluctuation of electrical current is translated into live sound as Olga paints with raw electricity. This immersive experience invites audiences to witness the fusion of energy, matter, and perception - where color becomes vibration and vibration becomes music.
Admission includes a chance to be the one guest selected in a special giveaway to receive the final painting created during the event, along with a one-of-a-kind CD recording of the performance.
