Overview

The Bay Area Global Health Innovation Challenge is a competition hosted by the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University, and the HealthRoots Foundation for Global Health in partnership with UCSF, UC Davis, and the Bay Area Global Health Alliance. We offer student teams from all schools, disciplines, and degree levels (undergrad through post-doc) the opportunity to present their ideas for low-cost, high-impact, and scalable global health solutions to world leaders in health, tech, design, and impact investing. Finalist teams receive powerful mentorship and development opportunities from expert judges, mentors, and advisors— and one team goes home with the $10,000 HealthRoots Grand Prize.

The Judges

Each submission has previously been reviewed in several rounds by elite panels of expert reviewers. On May 1, they will pitch in front of a number of world-class judges for the final pitch event:

10:15 - 10:25 AM: Announcement of the Pitch Day finalists.

All 16 teams compete in one round of closed door judging prior to 10:15AM. We will select the top scoring teams (at least 6) to move forward to this public pitch.

10:25 - 11:40 AM: Finalists teams pitch. 5 min presentation + 5 min Q&A for each team.

11:40 - 11:50 AM: Judge Deliberation

11:50 AM - 12:00 PM: Announcement of Winning Teams
