TFAP Health & Safety Protocols
The F.I.L.E.S. Arts Project (TFAP) looks forward to sharing the joy of dance and music with your students this summer. Safety and health are our priority and we take our lead from the CDC, Alabama Department of Public Health, and current local case data. Anticipate changes in these protocols as we continue to learn and adapt to follow best practices. We will periodically communicate changes or re-affirm current protocols. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Please take a moment to learn how we will conduct our 2022 summer program:
< Health Screenings Prior to Arriving to ASFA >
- Students must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 48 hours prior to attending or returning to class.
- Parents/guardians are asked to monitor themselves and their child for ANY suspected illness and REFRAIN from coming to the studio IF ILL. Parents/guardians are asked report to TFAP's staff if their child:
> displays any COVID-19 symptoms
> has been in close contact with any person who has or who has been exposed to COVID-19
> has a household member who has COVID-19 symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID-19.
< Coming to Class >
- Temperatures of all students and staff will be taken upon arrival for the Workshop.
- Classes will have fewer students to allow for social distancing.
- Students will wash or sanitize hands before and after class.
-Hand sanitizer will be available by each studio and the front desk.
- Students may not wear street shoes in the studios; dance shoes are not allowed outside the facility such as on the sidewalk or in the parking lot. We recommend students find shoes such as Crocs to slip on over their ballet shoes or change shoes before entering the studio space.
- Curricula has been revised to allow for physical distancing.
- Students should be dressed with hair set and ready for class when they arrive.
- Dressings rooms are open for use. Students may bring their personal items into the dressing rooms which will have assigned spaces.
- Drinking fountains are open for use. However, students are encouraged to bring a labeled water bottle for use in the studio. Also, students should bring a brown bag lunch/water from home.
< Masks >
- With the current improvement of COVID case numbers in our area, masks are optional in class and in the facility. We do recommend people wear a mask if not vaccinated (ages 5 and older) or have a high risk for illness. We will continue to maintain physical distance while at ASFA, including dance studios, music studios and common spaces.
- Students wearing masks in class will be given mask ‘breaks’ during class while they are not moving and are physically distant from others. Students will be reminded regularly to self-monitor for light-headedness and as needed, to take a break from dancing and self-distance. Teachers will monitor and adapt the pace of class. Wearing a mask while dancing is an adjustment; it will take time and patience to feel comfortable.
- All faculty and staff will wear masks.
< Space and Logistics >
- No parents or visitors will be allowed in the building. Drop off and pick-up procedures will be provided upon registration.
- Students will be assigned a studio for all of their classes for the duration of the Workshop and will not travel to other parts of the building except for lunch and restroom breaks.
< Cleaning and Sanitizing >
- Ballet barres will be sanitized after each use.
- Facility will have an enhanced cleaning schedule throughout the day; studio floors will be cleaned each evening.
< COVID-19 Exposure >
- In the event that a case of possible COVID-19 exposure comes to our attention, TFAP staff will assess the level of exposure and risk to others using current health guidelines.
- The assessment will dictate any notifications and other protocols to be implemented. This may include that the class in question end immediately.
- If a student, faculty or staff member shows signs of illness while at ASFA, staff will isolate that person and have them leave the premises as soon as possible.
- All spaces and items relative to the exposure will be sanitized accordingly.
- Reminder that prior to entering the facility, all people must be fever-free for 48 hours without fever-reducing medication.
** Protocols are subject to change as CDC guidelines and recommendations dictate. Thank you for being part of The TFAP family and for your help as we navigate this new environment together for everyone’s health and wellness.**
