Event description

Description

The bagua is one of feng shui’s most powerful tools. It is a grid of nine areas that lies over the floor plan of a room or building. Each area corresponds to an aspect of life.

The word bagua means eight areas, and the eight areas around the Center (of the home or room) are: Relationships, Fortunate Blessings (Wealth), Health & Family, Wisdom, Reputation, Career (Life’s Path), Helpful People & Travel, Creativity & Children.

The first class (Saturday, Oct. 14) is Introduction to the Bagua. The history and concept of the bagua map are explored, showing how it evolved from a basic yin/yang symbol. The five elements and their cycles are introduced—this is some of the most complicated material in Form School feng shui, but it’s worth it, because the power of color and shape are explained. Those are very basic things in life and having a good foundation of their symbolism is also very basic to feng shui. Come prepared to take notes and you are welcome to audio or video record.

The second class (Saturday, Oct. 21) is Application of the Bagua. This is the fun part, but it depends on the knowledge of the concepts introduced in the previous class. Small area such as desktops, closets, and bathrooms are covered. Contemporary design principles are applied to ancient feng shui concepts. Other concepts covered are, the five elements, and the bagua map. Additional topics are color, empowered positions, clutter, plants, and the differences between Compass and Landform Schools.

Both classes will be held at Hinano Healing Arts, 465 Hinano St., Hilo, HI 96720
