About this event

KELLI FITZPATRICK is an author, educator, and community activist based in mid-Michigan. Her Star Trek story “The Sunwalkers” won the Strange New Worlds 2016 contest, and her essays appear online at and Women at Warp, and in print from Sequart and ATB Publishing. She is currently writing for the Star Trek Adventures role-playing game from Modiphius. She is a strong advocate of the arts, public education, and gender rights and representation. J.L. GRIBBLE writes the urban fantasy/alternate history Steel Empires series, which includes Steel Victory, Steel Magic, Steel Blood, Steel Time, and Steel Shadows. Her other jobs include medical editing, Netflix watching, cat snuggling, and book reviewing.

By day, J. L. Gribble is a professional medical editor. By night, she does freelance fiction editing in all genres, along with reading, playing video games, and occasionally even writing. Her current work focuses on the urban fantasy/alternate history Steel Empires series, in which her debut novel, STEEL VICTORY, was her thesis novel for Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction graduate program in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Previously, she was one of the co-editors for FAR WORLDS, a speculative fiction anthology. She lives in Ellicott City, Maryland, with her husband and three vocal Siamese cats. JOEY YU is a published novelist and a bestselling nonfiction author in Asia. He is the recipient of George R. R. Martin’s Terran Award in 2018, a scholarship founded by Game of Thrones’ author for the Taos Toolbox master writing class. He is also the first bilingual writer commissioned by Riot Games for its League of Legends universe. His storytelling experience has crossed many creative fields including literature, comic books, games and film. His Mandarin novel The Mirrored Truth won the Kadokawa Light Novels Award (Runner-up Silver Award). His Mandarin novella The Locus won Taiwan Fantasy Foundation Literature Prize (Top 10 Excellence Award).

Joey has published 3 full-length novels, with two more science fiction novels set in the shared universe “Void of Light” coming in 2020. He has worked as the Narrative Director during the development stage of the shared universe, leading a team of 4 professional writers. He worked as script writer for a feature-length animated film based on “Aotu World”, the most popular original IP produced in China (the film’s launch date not yet announced).

Joey is currently acting as the script consultant for an original project created by YinJiu Concept, a company that has participated in the production of The Monkey King and Ne Zha—two of China’s blockbuster animated feature movies. He is also writing for the universe of League of Legends, produced by Riot Games, the world’s leading electronic sports firm (Project name cannot be disclosed yet). His published stories include The Bow, and the Kunai (featuring some of the most popular character assets in the universe such as Akali and Shen), and Between Light and Darkness (the introduction story of the character Kennen).

Joey is currently working with Tencent Game Ideas (A content development branch in Tencent, the largest gaming firm in China) on original world-building projects of premium standards. He wrote several mobile games, among which the FPS game Storm of Darkness was ranked #1 in Google Play’s action-game category in the US market for one week.

RUSS COLCHAMIRO is the author of the new sci-fi mystery novels Crackle and Fire and Fractured Lives, featuring his hardboiled intergalactic private eye Angela Hardwicke. He is also the author of the rollicking time travel/space adventure, Crossline, the SFF backpacking comedy series Finders Keepers, Genius de Milo, and Astropalooza, editor of the sci-fi mystery anthology Love, Murder & Mayhem, and co-author of the noir anthology Murder in Montague Falls.

A member of the Mystery Writers Association, Russ is currently writing the third book in his Angela Hardwicke series, and has written more than a dozen short stories for various anthologies. He is also host of the long-running podcast Russ’s Rockin’ Rollercoaster, interviewing a who’s who of science fiction, crime, and mystery authors.
