Overview
This workshop is taught in the Riso-Hudson tradition using the Insight Approach®, the method developed by Don Riso & Russ Hudson over more than twenty years.
Relationships are among the most rewarding—and also the most challenging—parts of our human experience. Whether intimate or professional, the quality of our relationships shapes our well-being, our work, our sense of self, and our experience of life. Yet many of the difficulties we encounter with others stem from misunderstandings, mismatched instincts, different communication styles, and unconscious patterns we bring to our interactions.
The Enneagram provides a remarkable, practical system for understanding the deeper dynamics that drive our relationships. It illuminates the psychological patterns of each type, as well as the innate spiritual capacities that support compassion, presence, and true connection. Each type has its own strengths, vulnerabilities, perceptual filters, and unique ways of relating. The better we understand these patterns—both in ourselves and in others—the more harmony and clarity our relationships will have.
Participants will learn how to use the Enneagram to improve relationships of all kinds: intimate partnerships, friendships, family dynamics, professional relationships, and everyday interactions. We will explore the deeper motivations behind each type, effective methods for communicating across types, and the ways the instinctual variants affect our core relational drives and blind spots.
What You Will Learn
- How each type perceives, expresses, and navigates relationships
- The deeper motivations and fears that influence relational dynamics
- The “wake-up calls” of each type—early signs of reactivity and contraction
- Harmonics: how each type approaches conflict
- How the Instinctual Variants (Subtypes) shape relational behavior
- Object Relations: early childhood emotional patterns that impact adult relating
- Practical tools grounded in The Law of Three to work skillfully with conflict
- How to return to presence—individually and together
The Insight Approach®
This workshop uses the Insight Approach®, a deeply experiential method developed by Don Riso and Russ Hudson over more than twenty years.
It includes:
- Guided meditations
- Presence-based sensing practices
- Panels with participants speaking from their lived experience
- Interactive group exercises
- Music and imagery
- Practices for cultivating compassion and grounded awareness
The Insight Approach brings together psychological understanding and direct experience of presence. Rather than giving theoretical information, it helps participants see type patterns in real time and learn how to relax them so new possibilities can emerge.
