The Draconid Suite (with Strings!)

Inspired by the Draconid Meteor Shower, Steve Lands' Draconid Suite reimagines the annual phenomenon through music that is a soundtrack to the idea of actual dragons falling to earth from the heavens. His music depicts the astounding descent and humans' reactions. Each note is composed with this dramatic imagery in mind.

Commissioned in 2023, the suite originally featured drums, electric bass, keyboards, saxophone, guitar, and trumpet, and it garnered great attention at French Quarter Fest in 2025. For Studio Saint Philip Lands was excited to rearrange the work for an acoustic setting. Featured muisicians include Steve on Trumpet, Gabrielle Fischler on Viola, Jennie Brent on Cello and two Studio Saint Phil regulars -- Martin Masakowski on Bass and Oscar Rossignoli on his favorite Steinway in town.
