About this event

  • Event lasts 7 hours

This workshop is facilitated by Kieran Vivian-Byrne and Victoria Jones. Both part of the exciting new developments with the Centre for Systemic Studies (The Family Institute).

Victoria is a Consultant Family and Systemic Psychotherapist. She facilitates the AFT accredited Systemic Supervision course offered by the Centre for Systemic Studies and has published on a range of topics including supervision.

Kieran has been a member of The Family Institute team since 2004. He has been supervising a wide range of professional practices since 2000 and has presented workshops in supervision both at home and internationally. He remains as a teacher at the Family Institute, now a project under the new and exciting development of the Centre for Systemic Studies.

This workshop is designed for anyone who is or will be in a supervision relationship for their therapeutic practice.

We will explore the importance of the supervisory relationship in practice. We hope to create a space with you to consider what it is you are making together when engaging in supervision? How do you negotiate and collaborate about what you bring to the endeavour as the supervisee and the supervisor? What might you choose to leave outside? We will consider how we begin, develop, nurture and sustain - effective, relational, ethical practice in our supervisory relationships.

If you are a supervisee, come with your stories of supervision (you could encourage your supervisor to join you on the day).

If you are a supervisor, you might encourage your supervisee(s) to join you too.

We will seek to create with you some opportunities for reflective consultations to ongoing supervisory relationship.

We (Victoria and Kieran) have lots of experience of supervision (group, retrospective, live, and management) and in this workshop will use our relatively new ‘peer supervision’ relationship we are creating as one example of an emerging supervisory edge.
