The Cosmic Walk is a meditative and embodied journey through the 13.8-billion-year story of the universe. As we walk a spiraled path marked with key moments in cosmic, Earth, and human evolution, we reflect on our place in this unfolding story. Each step invites awe, wonder, and a deeper sense of connection with all that is.

First created by Sister Miriam MacGillis of Genesis Farm in the 1980, inspired by the work of Thomas Berry, the Cosmic Walk has emerged as a ritual to help people embody the vast timeline of the universe, linking spirituality with the unfolding story of cosmogenesis. Since then, it has been adapted by spiritual and ecological communities around the world.

The Alliance for Wilderness Engagement (AWE) brings the Cosmic Walk to life each year as a shared ritual between First Church UU in Leominster and First Parish Church in Billerica, alternating locations annually on the last Sunday in December. All are warmly invited to step into the spiral with us.
