Join Sue Killeen to explore the Cora C. Harrison Preserve in Hastings, which is part of the River-to-Sea Loop trail. The Preserve and adjoining trailhead is named after Cora C. Harrison, an educator in the St. Johns County School District for 47 years and the first African American woman on the Hastings Town Council. After her death in 2007, the Town of Hastings acquired 16 acres of property from the Florida Communities Trust to preserve for public use and named it in Ms. Harrison’s honor.
According to eBird, 137 species of birds have been found at the Preserve. We will meet at the Trailhead parking lot to look for migrating warblers and whatever else we can see. In a past October, a Scarlet Tanager and a Tennessee Warbler were spotted at this Preserve!
Bring water, a hat, sunscreen and bug spray.
