Clarinetist and Brightwork Ensemble member Brian Walsh is one of Southern California’s most dynamic and adventurous performers. He seeks to redefine the role of clarinets in contemporary classical music, jazz, and world music, working with such diverse groups as Wild up Modern Music Collective, gnarwhallaby, The New Century Players, The California E.A.R. Unit and is a member of Creative Underground Los Angeles.
This program features Walsh’s many talents, including performing Feldman’s Clarinet and String Quartet from 1983, as well as two new works composed by Walsh himself: a solo work for clarinets, voice and electronics, and a sextet for clarinet and strings. Walsh will be joined by Alyssa Park and Adriane Pope (violins), Luke Maurer (viola), Maggie Parkins (cello) and Marlon Martinez (bass).
