About The Charlie Stevens Band
The Charlie Stevens Band draws from the hard-driving sounds of the Bluegrass world to create new, and exciting, acoustic music. In addition to Bluegrass, they are influenced by various other styles rooted in the American tradition. Most notably, Rock and Roll, and the Blues.
Cover songs range widely. Including: traditional Bluegrass, such as Bill Monroe and The Stanley Brothers; progressive Bluegrass, such as David Grisman and John Hartford; Rock and Roll, such as The Grateful Dead, Cream, and The Allman Brothers; and even current artists like Billy Strings.
Charlie’s original songs attempt to blend all of these influences together in a way that’s fresh and fun to listen to. Up-tempo tunes featuring blazing fast solos, and powerhouse vocals, make this an exciting group to see live, regardless of musical preference!
About Wes Urbaniak
Urbaniak is an oddity and a curiosity in this world of art – and – it’s quite difficult to describe the beauty within which he lives and creates. His whole world is a wonderfully delirious imagination rendered into reality. He lives in a yurt, in a forest, on an island in the Yellowstone River, and is surrounded by the mountains of Montana with his 100% adorable pup, Wilbur – it is truly, and absurdly, brilliant to experience his home, and the wonder it contains. The island and Wes have become so integrated, that it is not certain which is on the outside, and which is on the inside…
His songwriting is real – the stories within and the practice of being well, honorable, decent, connective, and deep are all flexes on the reality he renders – his art is massively supported by full immersion of the self into it – every aspect – every step. His shop and studio are also on the island where he lives, wanders, and pokes at the nature of the curious mind. In the shop, he builds instruments primarily from reclaimed sources (100+ year old pianos / Red Rock Amphitheater Benches / naturally felled trees). In the studio, and wandering the island in the many hours of each day, he has learned to pull the strings around on most stringed instruments. His mind hears symphonies, his heart (Coyote) drives him to create them by pulling the whole world through his Spirit (Ala) and into a form of art, music, poetry, and dreams pushed into reality.
