The Center for American Civic Leadership and Public Discourse Launch Event
Overview
The Center for American Civic Leadership and Public Discourse will hold its official launch event on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, featuring a talk by Rabbi Soloveichik titled “George Washington’s Jewish Letters and the Creation of a Constitutional Republic.”
Rabbi Meir Soloveichik, recognized as one of the world’s leading Jewish scholars and educators, as well as one of the most influential religious figures in America. Rabbi Soloveichik will discuss religious liberty at the Founding and the meaning of America as a place of religious freedom for the Jewish people.
This event is sponsored by The Center for American Civic Leadership and Public Discourse in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The program will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is suggested.
About Rabbi Meir Soloveichik
Meir Soloveichik is rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel, the oldest Jewish congregation in the United States, a senior scholar at Tikvah, and director of the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought at Yeshiva University. He was recently appointed by the President of the United States to the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty and served as Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
