About this event

Access to affordable, quality childcare is one of the biggest barriers to families and businesses in our region. In Washtenaw County, where there is only one licensed childcare slot for every eight children under five, families face the highest childcare costs in the state, while providers struggle to stay open and recruit staff. The result is a growing workforce challenge for employers across industries.

Join us at Ann Arbor SPARK (or virtually!) for a candid conversation about the business side of childcare—how providers can thrive as small businesses, how employers are affected, and what resources exist to support growth.

Hear directly from community experts:

  • Child Care Network (local snapshot of childcare in our county)
  • Jewish Family Services (family and community needs)
  • Small Business Development Center (business tools for childcare providers)
  • Apple Playschools ( a local childcare provider with real-world perspective)

This event is designed for childcare providers, employers, business and civic leaders, and anyone interested in how childcare access impacts our economy.

No fee to attend, but registration is required. Light bites and beverages will be provided.

This is a HYBRID event.
Join us in-person at SPARK Central or virtually via Zoom, whichever works best for you!
