About the Speaker: Christopher Montiel

"It’s fairly accurate to say that I am a person consumed with curiosity about the nervous system and the human brain. I eagerly devour the research of, among others, Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Gabor Maté, Deb Dana, LCSW, Dr. Dan Siegel, Tricia Hersey, MDiv, and Jessica Baum, LMHC, and have incorporated that research into my personal and clinical practice for over 2 years. I work from an ever-growing trauma-informed and anti-colonialist approach, and rely largely on polyvagal theory, acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), sensorimotor psychotherapy, mindfulness, indigenous healing practices, and body movement to support the work I do with clients."
