Join us at this event to kick off Black History Month and celebrate Black authors and poets from the greater Houston area and beyond. Write About Now is proud to present to you for the first time The Black Poetry Slam and Book Fair. A poetry slam is a fun, electric and competitive poetry showcase in which poets perform their work and are judged by random members of the audience. Typically, the host or another organizer selects the judges, who are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 scale) based on the poets' content and performance. The high score and the low score are dropped and the rest are added to give the poet their score for that round. The scores are added across the rounds and a final score it tallied and the top 3 scores win cash prizes. 2 Rounds. This event will be hosted by 2X Women of the World Poetry Slam Finalist Free.K.

All poets who compete in this competition will be permitted to sell their books and merchandise.
