Please join the Unifor 87-M equity committee for a summer celebration -- and very important panel! -- in Vancouver on Tuesday, July 26th, 7PM @ Mahony's Tavern at the Convention Centre.
We are honoured to be collaborating with Room Up Front, the amazing, essential and volunteer-run BIPOC photojournalism mentorship program. Please check out their work and consider donating to a group that is bringing up Canada's next generation of photojournalists. (You'll hear a lot more about RUF on July 26!)
Come early for our vital and necessary talk on the state of photojournalism in Canada, and why DEI in action is the key to ensuring we nurture and grow this challenged pillar of our newsmedia.
Taehoon Kim, photo editor at The Globe and Mail, will moderate a panel comprised of Jimmy Jeong, freelance photojournalist and executive director of Room Up Front, and freelance photojournalists Isabella Falsetti and Kayla Isomura.
Afterward, stick around and hang with us! There will be Mahony's food made possible by the Unifor Local Unit Equity Fund, an initiative of the Equity and Racial Justice department that helps bring union members together to raise awareness around the common goals of DEI and labour.
We're so excited to welcome all of you later this month. It's not often we have time to gather our Unifor brothers and sisters, who are in town for Constitutional Convention, alongside our colleagues working at or contributing to Vancouver's top newspapers, broadcasters and digital publishers.
Whether you're coming after Convention or after deadline: See you soon!
