The Basis of Acting: Recovering your Child Self with D.W. Brown
Event Information
About this event
The most essential technique necessary for an actor is to unlearn the techniques acquired during socialization (i.e., compartmentalization, anticipation, intellectualizing) and recover the ability to be vulnerable and in the moment with another person. Hear D.W. Brown, one of the world’s foremost teachers of the Meisner Technique, discuss the obstacles and the remedy for how to once again be free to play.
This class is for actors, directors, writers and anyone interested in the essentials of human interaction; whether beginners or longtime professionals, these are the pure fundamentals.
About the speaker:
D.W. Brown is the head instructor at what’s commonly considered Los Angeles’ premiere acting school, The Baron/Brown Studio in Santa Monica. D.W. has written a definitive book on acting, You Can Act, and the follow-up You Can Act: On Camera, as well as 2500 Years Of Wisdom, all published by Michael Wiese Productions (The Writer’s Journey). He has written and directed several award-winning shorts and the feature film On The Inside, starring Olivia Wilde.
Copies of D.W. Brown's You Can Act will be available for sale in the PRS Bookstore.
