The Artist’s Way: A 12-Week Creative Discovery Journey
With Facilitator Vera V. Chapman
Mondays Jan 12 – Apr 6 | 1-2:30 PM
Offered in partnership with the Lewiston Arts Council
Event Description
Are you hungry to reconnect with your creative self — beyond monotonous conversation and into lived experience? The Artist’s Way: A 12-Week Creative Discovery Journey is a weekly guided program based on Julia Cameron’s celebrated book that invites you to explore creativity as an essential part of your life, identity, and holistic well-being.
This offering is more than a discussion group; it is a structured weekly process of insight, reflection, and creative growth. Over 12 weeks, we’ll move through the book’s chapters in order, engaging in the foundational practices of:
- Morning Pages — daily stream-of-consciousness writing that clears inner noise and invites inner truth to surface
- Artist Dates — weekly intentional solo time dedicated to play, exploration, and inspiration
These tools are the core of the program and are done alongside weekly reflection in a supportive group setting.
Each session includes gentle group sharing (no artistic performance required), discussion of the week’s theme, guided reflection, and supportive structure to help you take the work off the page and into your life. You are not required to produce creative output — this journey is about your relationship with creativity, not performance.
Participants of all creative backgrounds — writers, makers, dreamers, thinkers, and explorers — are welcome. You don’t need to identify as an “artist” to benefit.
This program is made possible in partnership with the Lewiston Arts Council and has been partially sponsored to help keep the experience accessible.
