Event description
Calling all makers... Come learn more about Arduino and practical electronics!

About this event

3-Session Workshop

Dates: September 21st, 22nd & 23rd

Time: 6-8pm

Grades: 6-12

Cost: $30

Instructor: Mark Volstad

Students will learn how to program an Arduino microcontroller to interact with the outside world. We will use solderless breadboards to build electronic circuits of increasing complexity that we will control with the Arduino. We start by learning how to turn an LED on and off, then advance to producing different colors with an RGB LED. We will learn how to make weird and wonderful sounds, and we’ll even make an optical theremin!

Along the way, students will learn how to use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, current and resistance in an electronic circuit, and how to use Ohm’s Law to make design decisions and choose appropriate component values.

Attendees will take home all materials used in the workshop, including the Arduino, digital multimeter, breadboard and electronic components.
