The ABCs of Publishing - Part 2: Getting Your Story Published
Event Information
About this event
This event is being produced by The Global Food and Drink Initiative in partnership with 220 Publishing.
Writing a book is only the first part of sharing your story. Now it is time to bring it to life by getting it published.
During this webinar, we’ll discuss the three ways writers go about getting their books published:
Traditional Publishing – A publisher buys the rights to an author’s manuscript and the author gets an advancement and assumes no financial risk.
Self-Publishing – The writer publishes his or her book without engaging an established publisher and assumes all financial responsibility and also keeps 100% of sales.
Hybrid Publishing – The author pays the publisher fees for services and in return is paid higher royalties.
We’ll also discuss literary agents and their roles as well as when to consider getting one and the process. Ready to present to a publisher? We’ll provide some tips on what they are looking for.
Workshop presenters include:
Glenn Murray - Publisher and owner of 220 Publishing
Dianne Jacob - Author and writing coach
Rekaya Gibson - Journalist and author
Justice Stewart - Chef and author
Kathy Strahs - Author and publisher
This workshop is perfect for beginning writers as well as writers who are seasoned. Those who have an interest in just learning about the process but not ready to write a book are encouraged to attend.
