KPFA presents the award-winning documentary film THE 9 LIVES OF BARBARA DANE directed by Maureen Gosling, along with live musical performance by Oakland's Miko Marks. Oakland resident, Barbara Dane, was a jazz/blues/folk singer, known for her activism in peace and justice causes, feminist ideals, and unwavering support for fellow musicians. This event with both the film screening and a powerful musical performance from local artist Miko Marks is part of Protesta Productions’ Women’s Rebel Voices Film and Music Tour, which carries on Barbara Dane's legacy of championing music’s essential role in collective resistance and social change.
