The 42nd Annual Andrew A. Best, M.D. Banquet - Senior Recognition Banquet
Overview
At the Brody School of Medicine, students are equipped with the tools to enrich, expand, and strengthen our personal identities and our communities. We are emboldened to seek further understanding of who we are as individuals and to serve the region in which we receive our medical training. The education and experiences we gain at Brody go far beyond the four years of living and learning in Eastern North Carolina. When students graduate from Brody, we leave with a lifetime connection to each other, to the school, and to the region.
The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the oldest and largest medical student organization committed to serving underserved communities. SNMA develops initiatives aimed at eliminating health disparities among minority communities and strives to make concerted efforts to raise the levels of minority student recruitment, admissions, and retention in medical schools. The East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine Chapter of SNMA is an organization focused on increasing the number of culturally responsible minority physicians that excel academically, succeed professionally, and impact the community in a positive manner. As an inclusive student organization, we serve the entire community of Eastern North Carolina. SNMA is not only a pivotal organization in the school of medicine but also the ECU community at large.
Each year, the Brody SNMA chapter hosts a banquet to honor Dr. Andrew A. Best, an important contributor to the advancement of minorities in medical education throughout Eastern North Carolina. To further his legacy, we are celebrating the graduating SNMA members of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. This year marks the 42nd anniversary of the Andrew A. Best, MD Senior Recognition Banquet, which will be held at the Hilton Greenville (207 Greenville Blvd SW, Greenville, NC 27834) on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm.
Banquet guests will enjoy a delicious plated dinner and a powerful speaker chosen specifically by the graduating M4 class. We are asking you to support the efforts of the SNMA by contributing at one of the levels outlined below. Several of the identified contribution levels provide you with tickets to the banquet. Individual tickets may also be purchased at the cost of $60 per ticket ($50 for Brody Students).
