Who can attend the Free Christmas Lunch?

This special event is open to anyone aged 65 or over who lives in Strathaven or the surrounding areas with a valid ticket.

Do I need to pay anything?

No — it’s completely free! The lunch is provided as a gift to the community, thanks to the generosity of local supporters and businesses including James Alexander & Son and Nether Lethame Farm.

What’s included in the meal?

You’ll enjoy a traditional 3-course Turkey Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, along with tea, coffee, and one free soft drink for every guest. The bar will be open if you wish to purchase additional drinks.

How do I get a ticket?

Tickets are available only through Eventbrite. Just click the booking link and register your name and contact details. Tickets are free, but places are limited to 50 guests and allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes — if your friend, neighbour, or partner is also aged 65 or over, they’re very welcome! Just make sure they book their own ticket too.

I don’t have access to Eventbrite. Can someone book for me?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. A friend, family member, neighbour can book on your behalf — as long as they use your name for the ticket. Alternatively, visit Scott in his butcher shop [James Alexander & Son] and he can register for you should there be tickets left.

Is transport available?

No. All attendees will need to make their own way to Strathaven Golf Club.

What time should I arrive?

The event takes place on Wednesday 10th December 2025. Please arrive from 12:30 pm so you have time to get settled and enjoy a chat before lunch is served at 1:00 pm.

We recommend smart–casual festive attire — something a little dressed up, but still comfortable. Christmas jumpers, seasonal colours, or a fun holiday accessory are all great choices. There’s no strict dress code, so just wear something you feel good in and ready to enjoy the day.

The lunch is hosted by Strathaven Golf Club, but has been made possible with the support of Scott Alexander from James Alexander & Son plus MaryAnn Fleming from Nether Lethame Farm and some local business people who have kindly provided financial support to make it all possible.
