The '1988' Series: Technicolor Drip - Performance & Screening
Description
The third in the 1988 series, Technicolor Drip, features Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre dancers in the window frames and hanging window/art vitrines of the parking garage where Technicolor Drip by artist Jen stark (2015) is installed. The artwork highlights Culver City’s movie history through the rainbow concept in the film The Wizard of Oz. The title references the historic film coloring process employed in movie making. This work is 12 minutes and will continuously loop between 1-3pm. Later that evening from 8-9pm there will be a screening of the performance at Helms Bakery District Courtyard followed by a Q & A with Heidi Duckler, Jen Stark and Marla Koosed.
The performance and screening are free and open to the public though reservations are required. All necessary day-of information (parking, check-in procedures, etc.) will arrive in the "Know Before You Go" email prior to the performance.

The 1988 event series celebrates the 1988 adoption of the Art in Public Places Program Ordinance. 1988 features four site-specific dance performances by Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, which center on six featured artworks from Culver City’s public art collection. The events highlight the public art program and the performing arts as primary components of the ordinance. Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will join former Cultural Affairs Commissioner, Marla Koosed, who worked closely on the most recent ordinance, to toast Culver City’s Centennial and present 1988 with performances throughout 2017. Each performance will take place on and around existing pieces of public art.
This performance series is made possible with major funding from the City of Culver City Cultural Trust Fund. Sponsors for 1988 are: The Lapis Press, The Culver Studios, The Culver Hotel.
