Beijing Opera is a typical form of ancient theater in China, a must-see during the Lunar New Year Celebration. As Chinese national treasure and UNSECO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Beijing Opera is a synthesis of singing, dancing, recitation and combat, and is highly symbolic, suggestive and conventional.

DCBBO is a leading non-profit organization that aims to promote cultural diversity in the US through bilingual workshops and performances about Beijing Opera. Over the past decade, DCBBO has conducted over 240 events and benefited tens of thousands of people of various ethnic origin and age.

谢晓贤 Sarah Xie

谢晓贤，电气工程硕士，毕业于乔治 • 华盛顿大学，任职于美国休斯网络系统公司，从事卫星通讯高科技工作。因受家庭熏陶，对京剧有特殊的感情，酷爱梅派艺术，多年来受教于京剧名家沙淑英、秦雪玲、马少良、李淑媛、张晶、陈旭慧、李正华、吴虹等老师，并问艺于资深琴师李天雄、陈善良、杨复春、 徐季平、陈颂霖等，得到梅派名票王诚沛、包起龙、杨维筠和崔永明的指导传授。曾在美国大华府地区、纽约、费城、新泽西、上海、 南京、泰州等地演唱《穆桂英挂帅》《苏三起解》《三堂会审》《四郎探母》《三娘教子》《二进宫》《武家坡》《大登殿》《西施》《贵妃醉酒》《太真外传》《龙凤呈祥》《宇宙锋》《凤还巢》《野猪林》《白蛇传》和现代京剧《沙家浜》等戏。2023年参加泰州梅兰芳艺术节第四届海内外京剧梅派票友邀请赛，获二等奖和最佳网络人气奖。谢晓贤是华府“京剧之花”创始人之一，负责财务、剧场、音响灯光、字幕等工作。

Sarah Xie grew up in a Beijing Opera amateur family. She is very fond of Mei Style art. She has been greatly benefited from the famous Beijing Opera artists Shuying Sha, Xueling Qin, Shuyuan Li, Jing Zhang and Xuhui Chen, Beijing Opera violinist and Mei Style teachers Tianxiong Li, Shanliang Chen, Jiping Xu, Songlin Chen, famous Mei Style teachers Chengpei Wang, Qilong Bao and Weijun Yang, and famous Beijing Opera amateur Yongming Cui. She has performed Beijing Opera in Washington Metropolitan Area, New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Shanghai, Nanjing and Taizhou. In 2023, Sarah participated in Mei Lanfang Art Festival and received awards. Sarah is one of the founders of DC Beauty of Beijing Opera Ltd and the members of Chinese Opera Society of Greater Washington DC and Philadelphia Chinese Opera Society. She works in the area of satellite communications for Hughes Network Systems, USA.

王梅 Mei Wang

美国坦普尔大学化学系博士。早年曾在美国国家卫生研究院从事脑神经科学研究，后长期投身化学教育，成为资深的化学教师。赴美多年后，因夫家影响而结缘京剧。京剧启蒙于杨富春、沙淑英两位老师，先后受教于陈善良、李天雄、沙淑英、秦雪玲、吴虹等名家，并长期向李天雄老师系统学习梅派经典剧目。同时，也得到李淑媛、李正华、包起龙、王诚沛等老师的指导与传授。粉墨登台多年，演出折子戏包括《霸王别姬》《天女散花》《廉锦枫》《红线盗盒》《投军别窑》《贵妃醉酒》《太真外传》《穆桂英挂帅》《白蛇传》《西施》等经典梅派剧目，涵盖唱、念、做、打全方位艺术特色。多年来活跃于华府、纽约、费城、新泽西及中国等地的京剧舞台，参加多场专场演出。目前为“华府京剧之花”的创始人之一，担任剧务总管及演出制作工作。

Mei Wang holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Temple University and is a veteran chemistry educator. She has studied Peking Opera with renowned masters including Li Tianxiong, Sha Shuying, and others, focusing on the Mei School repertoire. Her performances include Farewell My Concubine, The Drunken Concubine, Mu Guiying Takes Command, The Legend of the White Snake, and other classics. Active on stages in Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and China, she is also one of the founders of DC Beauty of Beijing Opera where she serves as production manager.

黄岫如 Louisa Huang

黄岫如，毕业于北京大学，美国26所商学院联合认证工商管理硕士，“京剧之花”联合创始人、总负责人，主抓政策制度、融资合作、政府关系和公共宣传领域工作。任职国际金融机构，从事信托基金工作多年。出身书香世家，雅好诗词歌赋，喜爱京剧，攻张派青衣，受教于资深琴师李天雄、京剧名家张逸娟、沙淑英、李淑媛、秦雪玲和名票王诚沛等老师，曾向京剧名家马少良、赵飞、包起龙问艺。曾多次演唱传统京剧《状元媒》《秦香莲》《西厢记》《望江亭》《诗文会》和现代京剧《红灯记》《杜鹃山》《沙家浜》等戏。来美国长期工作之后，她利用自身语言优势、文化背景和项目管理经验，和同好创建华府“京剧之花”，视推广京剧艺术如正职工作，希望京剧艺术在异国打破票友自娱自乐的局限，进入当地主流人群。作为京剧的最初级“开门人”，她祈望以绵薄之力，让更多人走入剧场，欣赏京剧之美，遍开京剧之花。

Louisa Huang is co-founder and president of DC Beauty of Beijing Opera Ltd (DCBBO), a leading non-profit cultural organization in the USA that promotes Beijing Opera, a beautiful performing art in ancient China and UNESCO listed Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Together with her co-founders, Louisa pursues breaking down the barriers between people of different ethnic origin through presenting a new, fresh theater form and acoustic rendition appealing to audiences both in the east and the west. Under her leadership, nearly 250 educational oriented performances and workshops about Beijing Opera were conducted in universities, schools, museums, senior centers and government agencies in the US. They enjoyed wide media coverage and were highly remarked upon by the public, Maryland State Arts Council, Arts and Humanity Council of Montgomery County, Maryland Governor’s Office and the Embassy of P. R. China in the USA.

Beyond being in charge of policy, fundraising, government relationships and marketing at DCBBO, Louisa has been performing Beijing Opera for nearly 20 years both in mainland China and USA, featuring in elegant female character type (qingyi). Major credits include: Best Scholar as Matchmaker (zhuang yuan mei); Wisdom at the Riverside Pavilion (wang jiang ting); and Red Maid (hong niang).

盧德先 Peter Lu

盧德先，幼承家學，大學時期即活躍於校園劇壇，並連任多届京劇社社長。留學美國後，有幸師從余派名家张少樓先生，潜心研究余派藝術，曾与童芷苓、李小春、张少樓、张文涓、杨淑蕊、言興朋、李寶春等京劇名家同台合作。精通文武場面，曾為许多京昆名家司鼓，诸如童芷苓的全本《金玉奴》、《宇宙鋒》《尤三姐》，李小春的《周瑜歸天》张少樓的《讓徐州》、《文昭関》，张文涓的《搜孤救孤》，李宝春的《游龙戏凤》、《打金砖》、《断桥》，齐淑芳和丁梅魁的《盜仙草》、《青石山》。並曾随上海昆剧团赴西班牙巡演，担當鼓师，把華文漪的《游園驚梦》、鍾维德的《醉打山門》、陳同申的《桃花借扇》、《三岔口》史潔華，蔡青霖的《活捉》等等名角名劇成功帶上國際舞台。创办并主持新澤西州國劇社，將自宅作為排練與活動基地，為年輕票友操琴说戲，培训武场、组織演出，不遺餘力地傳播國剧，弘揚傳统。

Mr. Peter Lu is a highly respected Peking Opera enthusiast with over seventy decades of experience studying, performing, and promoting traditional Chinese Opera. Mr. Lu co-founded the New Jersey Peking Opera Society, bringing together fellow enthusiasts for regular practices and frequent performances.

马山 Shan Ma

马山 早年师从杨宝忠大师入室弟子徐炽明先生学习京剧杨派老生，几十年研习杨派艺术，常演剧目有《杨家将》《空城计》《文昭关》《洪洋洞》《武家坡》等。在大华府地区开设马山京剧班，教授和指导京剧爱好者演唱，组织京剧演出活动。

Shan Ma is a Beijing Opera performer who specializes in the Yang style laosheng (old male role). He was trained under Mr. Chiming Xu, a disciple of Master Baozhong Yang. Shan Ma has dedicated himself to Yang style singing for decades. He is known for his performances in classic plays like "Yang Family Generals," "Empty Fort Strategy," "Wen Zhao Pass,", "Hong Yang Cave" and "Reunion at Wu Jia Hill". As an active figure in the D.C. area, Shan Ma founded the Shan Ma Beijing Opera Class. He continues to teach and organize Beijing Opera events for enthusiasts.

杨新 Xin Yang

杨新， 化工博士， 毕业于纽约州立大学， 现从事信息产业软件应用咨询，为埃森哲咨询公司资深顾问。早年曾学唱现代京剧，于2016 年加入新泽西京剧社，师从北美著名票友卢德先老师学习余派老生和京剧武场大锣小锣， 也兼学文丑小花脸。曾在剧社年度汇演中演出过《四郎探母.见娘》中的杨延昭， 《断密涧》中的王伯当，《秦琼卖马》中的秦琼，《钓金龟》中的张义，《白蛇传》中的艄公，以及其他老生唱段清唱。 这次他将演出《四郎探母.见娘》中的杨延辉。

Xin Yang, Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, graduated from the State University of New York. He is currently engaged in software application consulting for the information industry and works as a senior consultant at Accenture. In his early years, he studied modern Peking Opera singing, and in 2016 he joined the New Jersey Peking Opera Society. He studied under the well-known Peking Opera amateur artist in North America, Mr. Lu Dexian, focusing on the Yu school laosheng (old male) roles as well as the percussion instruments of the Peking Opera martial ensemble, while also learning wenchou (comic) and xiaohualian (clown) roles.He has performed in the society’s annual showcases, playing Yang Yanzhao in “Visiting Mother” from The Fourth Son Visits His Mother, Wang Bodang in “The Broken Mountain Gully”, Qin Qiong in “Qin Qiong Sells a Horse”, Zhang Yi in “Fishing the Golden Turtle”, the boatman in “The Legend of the White Snake”, as well as other arias in concert form. He will be performing as Yang Yanhui in “Visiting Mother” from The Fourth Son Visits His Mother.

万小器 Xiaoqi Wan

万小器，曾任中国社会科学院高级文学编辑和研究人员, 在《剧本》和《戏剧艺术》等中国国家级杂志发表多篇戏曲研究文章。1996年入耶鲁和哈佛大学深造，继续中国文学和戏剧研究。先后任教于耶鲁和布朗大学。在大学期间，多次参加北京大学生京剧协会举办的演出，并得到著名京剧教育家叶蓬先生的指导。近年来在中国大陆和美国的多个京剧社举办的活动中表演《四郎探母》、《伍子胥》、《二进宫》和《梅妃》等经典剧目。

Mr. Wan served as a senior literary editor and researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences before pursuing his graduate degree at Yale and Harvard University in 1996 to continue his research on Chinese literature and drama. He has taught at Yale and Brown University. During his college years, he performed frequently in the galas organized by the Beijing University Student Peking Opera Association and received instructions from the renowned Peking Opera educator Professor Ye Peng. In recent years, he has been invited by some of the leading Peking opera societies in both China and United States to perform such masterpieces of Peking opera as “Silang Visits His Mother,” “General Wu Zixu,” “Entering the Imperial Palace Again,” and “Consort Mei”, etc.

吕宜兰 Yilan Lv

中华国剧社票友。二十世纪六十年代初开始听梅兰芳的唱片，一直以来努力刻苦学习梅兰芳大师的唱腔和梅派经典唱段。来美后在一家大型照片冲印公司的检验部门做检验统计工作。退休后一直活跃在华府的大小舞台。从2012年至今参加在华府社区老人活动中心的庆祝活动演出，参加华裔社团的音乐会和春晚，慰问老人院，日间活动中心和残疾人护理中心，登台彩唱梅派经典唱段“贵妃醉酒”二十余次，清唱：贵妃醉酒、太真外传、霸王别姬、梨花颂、西施、长亭别妻，现代京剧红灯记等经典唱段三十余次。才赢得了中美老年朋友的高度赞扬和喜爱。在White Oak 老人活动中心至今还挂着她十年前彩唱“贵妃醉酒”的照片都不舍得换掉。

A member of the Chinese Opera Society in Washington,D.C, Yilan has been performing Mei-style arias and modern Chinese opera in for many decades, and has garnered widespread praise and love from elderly Chinese and American audiences. Her footprint was found in large-scale concerts, Spring Festival Galas organized by community groups, as well as nursing homes, day centers, and care homes for the disabled.

王凤香 Fengxiang Wang

祖籍山西太原。毕业于山西医科大和日本熊本大学医学院。2019年加入新泽西国剧社，开始学习传统京剧，专攻老旦行当。在剧社老师及资深票友的悉心指导下，艺术修养不断提升，并于2023和2024年剧社年度汇演中成功饰演折子戏《钓金龟》中康氏及《四郎探母》中佘太君。2025 六月参加了“2025 中国京剧银滩夏令营“，饰演了《四郎探母》中佘太君和《遇皇后》中李后等。学戏的同时也参与研习京剧文武场，主攻小锣和月琴，在剧社内外票房活动中担任伴奏，为弘扬国粹艺术尽一份心力。

Wang Fengxiang, from Taiyuan, Shanxi, China. In 2019, she joined the New Jersey Chinese Opera Society and began studying traditional Peking Opera, specializing in the role of Laodan. She successfully portrayed the roles of Kang Shi in the excerpt "Fishing for Golden Tortoises" and She Taijun in "Silang Visits His Mother" in the company's annual performances in 2023 and 2024. She also participated in the "2025 China Peking Opera Silver Beach Summer Camp," playing roles such as She Taijun again and Empress Li in "Meeting the Queen", etc. Meanwhile, she also studies of the Wenwu stage of Peking Opera, including xiaoluo and yueqin instruments. Now she performs accompaniment instruments at the box office events.

邱莉 Lily Qiu

邱莉，南京大学对外汉语教育硕士和美国新泽西理工大学计算机专业硕士。她自幼酷爱京剧艺术，留学定居美国后，积极组织和参与各类弘扬国粹之活动，较为大型的有：“现代京剧清唱会”、“京剧精萃“、“纪念新州中国日三十周年京剧汇演”等公演。她跟随京剧前辈和老师们研习张派和梅派艺术多年，先后受教于：卢德先、徐季平、李正华、张学利、李海龙、陈顺明、刘明珠、张婷等京剧界名家和老师。曾参演京剧“吕布与貂蝉”、“四郎探母”、“西厢记”、“白蛇传”、“大登殿”、“白毛女”、沙家浜”等经典折子戏。2024年受邀参加江苏泰州梅兰芳艺术节”第五届海内外京剧梅派票友展演”，获得最佳表演作品奖。她是美国金牌票房新泽西国剧社创始会员之一，现任剧社副会长。

Lily Qiu has been passionate about Peking Opera since childhood. She has consistently organized and participated in various Peking Opera activities. Over the years, she has studied the art of the Zhang and Mei school of Peking Opera and has performed in multiple classic Peking Opera excerpts . In 2024, she was invited to participate in the "Fifth Mei School of Peking Opera Amateur Performances at China and Abroad" at the Mei Lanfang Art Festival in Taizhou, Jiangsu, and won the Best Performance Award. She has received guidance from Peking Opera masters and teachers. She is a founding member of the New Jersey Peking Opera Society, a gold medal Chinese Opera club in the United States, and currently serves as the society's vice president.

许琯 Guan Xu

许琯 美国工程硕士并拥有多个州的职业工程师执照 （licensed Professional Engineer)。就职于美国联邦政府交通部. 业余爱好京剧，尤痴迷于别具一格的程派艺术. 曾先后受教于秦雪玲，马山，钱启明，徐季平，段晓羚等老师们。近几年在马山老师的培训指导下演出过《武家坡》，《春闺梦》，《三堂会审》等折子戏， 是维州京剧班成员并多次在大华地区的社区活动中演唱京剧。这次演出的是程派名剧《春闺梦》梦境一折的“沙场”部分，是继2023 年演出前半梦部分后再次挑战这出唱做并重的程派本宫戏.

Guan holds a master's degree in engineering from the U.S. and is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states. She has worked for the Federal HIghway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation for 23 years. An avid Peking Opera enthusiast, she is particularly fascinated by the unique style of the Cheng school. She has been mentored by Peking Opera masters such as Qin Xueling, Ma Shan, Qian Qiming, Xu Jiping, and Duan Xiaoling. In recent years, under the guidance of Mr. Ma Shan, she has performed excerpts from operas like Wujiapo, Chun Gui Meng, and San Tang Hui Shen. For this performance, she is again taking on a challenging role, performing the "battlefield" scene from the "dream sequence" of the famous Cheng school opera, Chun Gui Meng, which follows her 2023 performance of the first half of the dream sequence, marking another significant challenge in this physically and vocally demanding opera.

李复 Wendy Li

美国工程硕士，目前在政府部门任职高级工程师、项目经理。喜爱张派剧目，尤其沉醉于张派唱腔的华丽舒展和柔俏多姿。启蒙于秦雪玲、朱楚善老师，曾受教于秦雪玲、马山、李绍华老师，得到沙淑英、钱启明等老师的指点。并在马山老师的培训指导下，先后演出了《武家坡》《春秋配》《状元媒》等张派折子戏。是维州京剧班成员。曾多次在大华府地区的社区活动中演唱京剧。此次登台，将演出张派选段《龙凤呈祥》”昔日梁鸿配孟光”，愿与观众共享国粹京剧的风采。

Wendy Li holds a master’s degree in engineering and is a government senior engineer and senior project manager. An avid devotee of the Zhang-school of Peking Opera, she received her training in Peking Opera under teachers Qin Xueling and Zhu Chushan, Ma Shan, Li Shaohua, Sha Shuying and Qian Zhiming. In recent years she has continued intensive training with Ma Shan in stage performance techniques, and under his coaching has performed Zhang-style Peking Opera excerpt such as “Wu Jiapo”, “Spring-Autumn Match”, and “The Top Scholar as Matchmaker”. She is a member of the Virginia Peking Opera Class. She also performed Peking Opera on many occasions at community events in the greater Washington, D.C. Area.

龚润芝 Jennifer Gong

环境工程硕士，毕业于美国辛辛那提大学。曾任体育教练，大学教师，环境污染治理研究，资深电脑工程师等职。自幼喜爱歌舞但对戏曲却无动于衷甚不理解外公（曾任桂林市桂剧团团长兼鼓师）为何总爱坐在桌边用两根食指敲敲打打；来美多年后在华府票房和维州京剧班的活动中受到资深票友前辈同好们的影响鼓励由歌入戏，开始在大华府的舞台上表演现代和传统京剧的黛诺、柯湘、阿庆嫂、王宝钏、白娘子、杨玉环等青衣角色，从而浅尝不止乐此不疲。先后受教于朱楚善、秦雪玲、钱啟明、马山、隋冰、姜玲等老师。近年来系统地跟随马山老师潜心学习京剧舞台的表演艺术并在马山老师的培训指导下出演了折子戏《武家坡》、《浣沙记》和《贵妃醉酒》。此次将演唱梅派经典唱段《太真外传·长生殿七夕盟誓》一折中的【反四平调】“纤云弄巧轻烟送暝”。

Jennifer Runzhi Gong holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. After moving to the U.S., she was inspired by opera enthusiasts in the Washington, D.C. area and began her journey into Peking Opera. She has studied successively with renowned teachers including Zhu Chushan, Qin Xueling, Qian Qiming, Ma Shan, Sui Bing and Jiang Ling. In recent years, she has been trained systematically under the guidance of Ma Shan and has performed excerpts such as Wu Jia Po, Huan Sha Ji, and The Drunken Beauty. For this program, she will present the Mei school classic aria “Slender Clouds Playfully Weave, Light Mist Welcomes the Dusk” from The Legend of Taizhen · Changsheng Hall.
