Our Panel

Joseph Pallant - Director of Climate Innovation at Ecotrust & Founder of the Blockchain for Climate Foundation

Joseph has been a pioneer in shaping Canada’s carbon market since 2004, building leading‐edge offset projects, contributing to the development of strong standards, and helping society understand the role of ecosystem‐based projects in halting climate change. He developed first‐of projects in forestry, fuel switching and transportation, founded CPS Carbon Project Solutions Inc., as well as Blockchain for Climate Foundation, “Putting the Paris Agreement on the Blockchain.” A 2019 “Canada’s Clean50” award winner, Joseph’s work, insight and advocacy continue to shape the growth of Canada’s low‐carbon economy.

Joseph holds an MBA degree from INSEEC, Paris, France, a post graduate diploma in Latin American Management from the McRae Institute of International Management (Capilano College) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria. His contributions as a member of International Emissions Trading Association, and attendee at the Montreal, Copenhagen and Paris UN Climate conferences add both context and vision to his work for climate solutions.

Colin Sullivan - President of MintGreen Blockchain Innovation Corp.

Colin is an entrepreneur with balanced experience in tech and business development, founding businesses in blockchain, ecommerce and mobile application design.

Originally introduced to the space as a supplier of thermal exchange equipment for immersion cooled Bitcoin mining systems in 2014, Colin became obsessed with cryptomining. He began his career in blockchain the following year as a cryptomining consultant: creating profit models and system specifications for GPU and ASIC mining deployments. In 2016, Colin joined the core development board of an established cryptocurrency. In early 2017 he co-founded, Ontario based large-scale cryptomining project, BitCity as the technical lead. Colin was the driving influence for the creation of MintGreen Blockchain Innovation Corp. co-founded with two longtime friends in 2017.

An active investor in cryptocurrency, Colin loves baseball, believes that PoW mining is efficient and that energy for mining should be conscientiously sourced to minimize overall environmental footprint.

Nicola Claxton - Co-founder and COO of Yave

Originally from Montreal, Nicola has morphed into a Vancouverite after 25 years working with iconic local orgs: MEC, Vancity, 2010 Winter Olympics, and lululemon athletica. Building on her business, IT, and sustainability program experience, Nicola left the corporate world to pursue her goal of transforming at-risk supply chains utilizing blockchain tech. Nicola is now o-founder of Seattle tech start-up, Yave.io. Yave is a marketplace for trading and tracing coffee; host to the world's first blockchain coffee auction for Guatemalan Coffees this past May.

Sarah Morton - Co-founder and CSO at PowerBD Solutions

A savvy relationship builder, insustry veteran Sarah leverages 25 years in the industry to forsee its most exciting future, and bridge the gap between tech and business needs. Her experience building five tech companies, managing IT, data centres and managed security, further provide the perfect foundation from which to lead the team's business development and product strategy.
