About this event

  • Event lasts 8 hours 30 minutes

Join our esteemed instructors, David Christensen (ThM, DMin), founder and president of The Rephidim Project, and Mark J. Crocco (BS, MDiv), Director of Ministries for The Rephidim Project, for this transformative seminar designed to equip pastors and preachers with practical strategies for expressing what God wants to say in the Old Testament narrative so that people are transformed into Christlikeness by the power of the Spirit.

Seminar Description

Since God is our teacher and His Word is the content of His teaching, how do we ensure that we are preaching God's Word and not our words? Do we truly believe in the sufficiency of Scripture to meet our spiritual needs today, or do we merely pay lip service to that concept?

Stories make up approximately 40% of the Old Testament. How do we preach these Old Testament stories to our video-saturated culture today? What tools can we use to unlock the truths God wants to teach us from these Old Testament narratives?

This seminar will address these questions with biblical and practical principles to help you become a better expositor of God's Word. You will learn how to preach text-driven messages, unlike much popular preaching today, which is topic-driven. This seminar will equip you with the exegetical tools to help you break down a narrative into its parts and identify the exegetical idea that unifies the story.

Organized by

The Rephidim Project exists to mobilize, equip and encourage pastors worldwide with a blueprint for expositional preaching that produces Christlike believers by the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God.

It is a collaborative effort to bring expository preaching resources and training to pastors, church leaders and those who have a call to preach.

The Rephidim Project leads seminars and establishes cohorts to train preachers to be more effective expositors of God’s Word.

Seminars are one-day events that can be either a good jump start on preaching for those with limited training or a refresher for those who have previously studied homiletics in the classroom. Some of our foundational seminars include: Persuasive Preaching, Transformational Preaching, Pericopal Theology: The Method of Transformational Preaching, Pastoral Preaching, and Text-Driven Preaching.

Preaching cohorts are groups of six to eight pastors in a geographical area who covenant together for their continuing education as pastoral preachers. The initial commitment is for eight gatherings in twenty-four months. Cohorts are collaborative learning experiences designed to help pastors become more effective in their local settings. Pastors learn from one another and encourage one another as they hone their skills in pastoral preaching. Our vision is to establish cohorts of pastors who covenant together to develop and improve their skills in expository preaching through joint workshops, mutual encouragement, and personal accountability.
