All TExES exams contain questions related to understanding appropriate instructional practices and assessment methods related to the content and grade levels covered by the individual exams.

In this interactive online course, participants will explore current, research-based instructional practices and assessment methods in order to be better informed when selecting answer choices on TExES exams.

Participants will:

  • gain an understanding of the "perfect world" represented on certification exams and how that impacts instruction in the classroom scenarios
  • gain an understanding of instructional practices that lead to high student engagement, academic conversation, and collaboration
  • gain an understanding of the different types of assessments and how they are used to assess student learning
  • gain an understanding of differentiation strategies and accommodations referenced in exam questions about students in Bil/ESL, Special Education, and Gifted/Talented programs.
  • learn test taking strategies applicable to TExES exams
  • apply this learning to several practice questions
