Novel Engineering - Designing Maker Solutions for Problems Discovered through Reading Stories, Led by Dr. Shelly Bucci, 2nd Grade Teacher, New Castle Area School District

Explore Novel Engineering - an innovative teaching strategy to integrate literacy and engineering into the K12 curriculum. Using design thinking and maker materials, we will explore stories as the basis for engineering design challenges that identify problems as we design realistic solutions. Literature at all levels with design suggestions will be shared.

I am a current 2nd grade teacher in the New Castle Area School District going into my 29th year. Have also taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade, have been a Title I reading specialist and a STEM facilitator for grades K-12 in the district. Received my PhD from Pitt and have certifications in reading and preK-12 Principal. Through Tufts University took a Novel Engineering course. Love literature and STEM!!!! (making in particular)
