Techtonica Hackathon Series: Accessibility First + Performance Optimization

Techtonica's full-time program is a twelve-month program for local women and non-binary adults seeking economic empowerment to transition into careers in the software industry. You can read more about the program here.

The hackathon series is a great opportunity to join forces with developers worldwide for an exhilarating two-day coding experience that recurs monthly! The series will bring together coders, designers, and technical volunteers from around the globe. Whether you're coding from your home office or a coffee shop, this is your chance to collaborate, innovate, and build something amazing in just two days!

For this second track, we will be covering the theme: Accessibility First + Performance Optimization. This powerful combination addresses fundamental user experience improvements across both curriculum and website.

• Impact: Dramatically improved experience for all users, especially those with disabilities or on slower connections

Here's the general event Format:
Open Source Hour — Workshop, the day before hackathon days, to support you getting onboarded into any of our existing open-source repositories.
Day 1: Ideate & Build — 8-hour sprint focused on ideation, team formation, and initial development.
Day 2: Execute & Present — 8-hour sprint to complete projects, prepare demos, and showcase your creation.

Each day runs in a focused 8-hour sprint format, giving you enough time to make significant progress while keeping the energy high and the burnout low! Please note that you are required to be available for both day 1 and 2 of the hackathon.

If you are volunteering with us for the first time, please complete this form before signing up. Please note that we will communicate with you about your signed up hackaton day/time no later than one hour prior to the event. We will send out the Zoom video call link on the day of the event. If you sign up for a slot the previous day from your time, kindly reach out to us directly for the next steps.
