Microcredential Ceremony

About SkillCircuits
SkillCircuits are 2.5-hour, hands-on workshops designed to introduce neurodiverse and IDD individuals to the fundamentals of cellphone and laptop repair. This interactive experience covers everything from diagnosing common issues to safely disassembling and reassembling devices, allowing participants to gauge their skills and interest in the field of device repair.

SkillCircuits serve as the first step into the Techtonic Workforce Academy, where students can pursue industry-recognized WISE Certifications in cellphone and laptop repair. Those interested in continuing their education will have the opportunity to enroll in the Workforce Academy beginning March 2025. By the end of the SkillCircuit event, participants will earn an Introductory Micro-Credential, putting them on the path toward full WISE Certification.


Event Run-Down
Participants rotate through four stations, spending about 20 minutes at each to learn the fundamentals of device repair.

  1. Sorting & Grading: Discover how to classify devices based on damage level.
  2. Diagnosing: Learn the steps for identifying repair needs and possible solutions.
  3. Cellphone Repair: Practice assembling and disassembling smartphones to understand
  4. Laptop Repair: Gain hands-on experience assembling and disassembling laptops.
