Teaching students effective ways to communicate their needs is key to decreasing challenging behaviors and increasing student success. This workshop focuses on teaching replacement behavior skills using evidence-based instructional strategies, such as functional communication training, video-modeling, behavioral skills training, and self-monitoring. An overview of these strategies is provided as well as discussion about the importance of planning for generalization early in the teaching process.
