Welcome to the DePaul University’s Civics Initiative’s : “Teaching for Democracy: Civics across the Curriculum.” Join us at the Lincoln Park Campus Student Center for a full day of engaging discussions and inspiring presentations.
With generous support from the Teagle Foundation and the DePaul University College of Arts & Social Sciences, we have built an innovative, interdisciplinary, and impactful approach to civics. Over four years, we have trained almost 50 faculty from across the university to teach civics classes that center the social contract and the value of the lived experiences of everyone who enters the classroom. We are excited to share this flexible, interdisciplinary approach, and provide resources to help you engage with civics on your campus.
This event features a keynote address by Therese Huston (author of Teaching What You Don’t Know), along with interactive pedagogies and informational panels led by our Teacher-Scholars who have taught various sections of the course.
If you are interested in invigorating civics at your institution or classroom, please join us at the Teaching for Democracy: Civics across the Curriculum event to learn more about our approach and rationale, as well as gain access to the resources and pedagogical tools for creating your own curriculum.
The event will take place at DePaul University - Lincoln Park Campus Student Center - in Room 120 B.
We look forward to seeing you at this exciting event.
