Direct Animation at Heavy Manners

Draw, paint, etch and collage directly onto 16mm film to create beautiful and rhythmic animations. Direct (or cameraless) animation is the technique of bypassing the camera entirely and applying materials directly to 16mm leader or film. The result is gorgeous, abstract animations that are filled with surprising life and movement.

No film or art experience necessary! Kids are welcome. At the end of the workshop we’ll screen our handmade films as a group and participants can take their work home.

Supplies:

We will supply all materials: film, splicer, art materials, and projector.
