Talking Through the Tough Stuff With Your Child

Talking Through the Tough Stuff With Your Child

By North Hartford Ascend Pipeline

Overview

Explore how to respond with honesty while helping your child feel secure, understood, and emotionally supported.

Once the space is safe, what do we actually say? In this hands-on session, caregivers will practice using clear, compassionate language to talk with children about life’s most difficult moments. Through real-life scenarios, you'll explore how to respond with honesty while helping your child feel secure, understood, and emotionally supported. Learn simple phrases that promote emotional regulation, reduce fear, and invite connection—even when the conversation is painful.

In this workshop, caregivers will:

  • Learn how to speak clearly and compassionately about difficult topics.
  • Practice using language that supports emotional regulation and understanding.
