Join us for a magical outdoor adventure where stories come alive beneath the canopy! In partnership with Duke Forest, we're bringing together families for an enchanting morning of storytelling surrounded by nature's beauty.

What to Expect

Storytime Under the Sky - Gather 'round as we share captivating tales that celebrate nature, adventure, and friendship in the heart of the forest. (we will be under a covered park shelter)

Outdoor Activities - Explore the wonders of Duke Forest through guided nature activities designed to spark curiosity and connection with the natural world.

Nature Crafts & More - Get creative with hands-on crafts using natural materials and forest-inspired themes that children can take home as keepsakes.

Important Details

Parking: Convenient onsite parking is available for all families.

Comfort: Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, and any other items to make your forest experience comfortable and cozy.

Facilities: There is a rustic outhouse onsite with no running water, but we will have plenty of water, wipes, and snacks available for attending families.

Come prepared for an unforgettable experience where literature meets nature, and stories take root among the trees. Perfect for families looking to disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other and the natural world!

Detailed Directions: From Duke University’s West Campus, head west along Cameron Blvd/Hwy NC-751. Pass under the 15-501 bridge and travel straight through the roundabout. About 2.5 miles from the roundabout on your left, look for the “Duke Forest Event” and "Book Harvest Event" signs that will be placed along the roadside. Pull through the green gate posts, drive down the forest road, and then follow Duke Forest staff instructions for parking.
