Take A Walk On The Wild Side : Mark Vorderbruggen

We’re thrilled to welcome Mark Vorderbruggen, founder of Eat the Yard and longtime advocate for native plants and wild foods, to host a special class at Blackwood Educational Land Institute.

Join us for an immersive walk through the fields as Mark shares his deep knowledge of foraging, edible ecosystems, and the wild abundance growing all around us. You’ll learn how to identify native plants, understand their ecological roles, and reconnect to the natural world through taste, texture, and story.

And the day doesn’t stop there—
Right after Mark’s class, we’ll roll straight into Agritourism Day, our free weekly open farm day at Blackwood. Explore the farm through guided tours, take part in hands-on classes, and enjoy fresh, seasonal dishes prepared by our chefs. Guests can even take home produce and herbs harvested straight from our fields.

It’s a day full of connection, learning, and good food—all rooted in the rhythms of the land.
