About this Event

Welcome to T-Group—a swift way to increase Relational Intelligence (RQ) skills. Throughout our 2+ hours together, we practice simple communication tools to access curiosity, insight, and depth-charged presence. In community, we leverage what is happening in the present moment to share our perceptions, narratives, and feelings. T-Group is akin to meditating in relationship, as we identify and articulate experiences in real time.

What to expect: We will start seated in a circle. Alicia will facilitate a brief meditation, then invite each participant to introduce themselves, along with state of feeling/being and intention(s) for the evening. After a brief explanation of the T-Group tools and/or a relevant activity, we will either stay in the same circle—or break into smaller circles and different rooms—for two rounds of T-Group. The first round will emphasize connection by building trust and “ground of health” with each other, while the second will invite more risk taking. We will check out by each briefly sharing takeaways.

Timeline:

• Doors open at 6:30 - arrive between 6:30-7:00 to get settled

• Doors close 7:05, please be on time

• 7:05 Start T-group

• Complete checkout by 9:15

• Leave or tea / community connection

• Exit building by 9:30

Venue: We will be in a craftsman owned by Special Service for Groups, Inc. (SSG) / Occupational Therapy Training Program (OTTP). OTTP is dedicated to mental health, empowerment, and life skill development.

Facilitator: Alicia Maness is a therapist, coach, and yoga teacher. She fell in love with T-Group in 2018, while navigating heartbreak. She’s also a proud mom to a teenager, 2 bro cats named Jetmund and Winxaboo, and is an aspiring volleyball photographer.

More about T-Group: The “T” stands for “Training”. Developed to explore human behavior within groups, one of the original uses of T-Group was to improve the management of large organizations. Business and Psychology graduate programs—notably Stanford, Berkeley, and CIIS—currently teach it. The format we will use of is based on Crystallin Dillon’s “T-Group 2.0”.

Potential outcomes of long term T-Group practice include skillfulness in:

• Building trust

• Deep listening

• Authenticity

• Discernment of what, when, and how to share

• Observing and rewiring patterns such as attachment

• Accessing and sustaining Presence

• Calibrating vulnerability

• Emotional intimacy and challenging conversations
