About this event

Arts • Comedy

The play centers around Greg, a middle-aged man who is experiencing a mid-life crisis. He finds Sylvia, a stray dog (played by a human), in Central Park and decides to bring her home. Sylvia is an exuberant and charming lab/poodle mix who quickly becomes a source of joy and companionship for Greg, who feels disconnected from his life and job in finance.
Greg's wife, Kate, is less than thrilled about the new addition to their home. As a busy professional in the public school system, she is looking forward to enjoying her newfound independence now that their children have left for college. Kate views Sylvia as a disruptive force in their lives, leading to tension and conflict between her and Greg.
As Greg spends more time with Sylvia, he begins to neglect his job and his relationship with Kate, leading to a rift in their marriage. The play humorously depicts the challenges of balancing personal desires with marital responsibilities, as well as the societal expectations surrounding pet ownership.
