Join artist Jo Nanajian for a two-day, hands-on sculptural workshop that explores the fundamentals of building form and experimenting with surface. Open to all skill levels, this workshop invites participants into Jo’s personal process of combining structure and texture through playful, process-based exploration.
Day One will focus on building simple armatures using chicken wire followed by applying plaster strips to create a solid sculptural base. Participants will learn how to handle the materials safely and confidently, with plenty of time to develop their own unique form.
Day Two will dive into surface experimentation. Jo will introduce a wide range of materials and techniques for texturing and finishing your piece. Participants will first test materials on paper and then apply them directly to their sculptures, transforming each piece into something deeply personal and unexpected.
Please note: Some of the materials used in this workshop require the use of gloves and a face mask for safety. All necessary safety equipment will be provided.
Ages 18+ welcome; 16+ if accompanied by a guardian.
Event is two days (August 9 and 10) and participation in both days is required, as each session builds upon the last.
