About this event

Klasey Consulting has partnered with Lincoln Families is host "Supporting More than Just Youth: A Need for a Generational Lens Part 1 & 2" for Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras providers. With a growing awareness of trauma and it’s impact on an individual, we are learning that we need to not only consider what has happened in the individual’s lifetime but need to also consider what happened in the lives of previous generations in their families. Working with foster youth can be challenging given the generational patterns of trauma, poverty, incarceration, etc. So, it’s essential for providers to understand generational trauma and how to work with foster youth from a generational perspective. Without this perspective, we can have unrealistic expectations for youth and their families and encounter barriers to engagement. This training will highlight examples of generational trauma amongst Native families, African American families and Latino families. THIS IS A TWO DAY TRAINING

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will be able to define generational trauma.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 1 way generational trauma impacts the Native community.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 1 way generational trauma impacts the African American community.

Please note that in order to register for these free trainings you must be staff, caregiver or volunteer working directly with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible.

This training is being facilitated by Dr.Nicole Kelly of Klasey Consulting LLC. You can learn more about Klasey Consulting at www.klaseyconsulting.com. Follow us on Instagram @klaseyconsulting to stay informed about upcoming trainings and learn about resources.
